A glacial lake burst (GLOF) in the Lemthang area of Bhutan has caused water to overflow into the Mo Chhu river, flowing towards the Sankosh river. This has raised flood risks in lower Assam and West Bengal. Authorities have issued a high alert, advising residents near Sankosh and its tributaries to evacuate. Floodwaters may reach the plains within 5-6 hours. NDRF and SDRF teams are active, and disaster management is on alert.
