WorldGandak River Breach in Bihar Causes Floods in Four Districts
The Gandak river's rising water level in North Bihar caused the Champaran embankment to break late Monday night near Khairatwa in West Champaran. The breach, about 150 feet wide, has flooded surrounding villages, disrupting lives and blocking the Ratwal-Chakhni main road. Water released from Valmikinagar barrage reached 191,200 cusecs by Tuesday morning. Several panchayats including Chakhni and Rajawatiya are affected, forcing residents to move to safer areas.
