A French family discovered a rare 18th-century Chinese porcelain vase in their attic and sold it for €16.18 million at Sotheby’s Paris in 2018. They had brought the vase to the auction house in a shoebox, unaware of its value. Experts identified it as an imperial vase made for the Qianlong Emperor, selling for over 23 times its estimated price.
