Francis Ford Coppola Transforms Belize Lodge into 20-Room Resort
In 1981, filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola purchased an abandoned hunting lodge in Belize's forests and converted it into a private family retreat. After twelve years, it opened as Blancaneaux Lodge, a 20-room resort featuring cottages, wooden interiors, and outdoor activities like kayaking, horse riding, and swimming near waterfalls, preserving much of its original charm.
