Four of Six Endangered Snakes Survive Australian Conservation Trial
Four out of six endangered broad-headed snakes released into the wild in New South Wales have survived the initial months of a pioneering conservation experiment. The juvenile snakes, bred in captivity, were released in May 2026 into restored rocky habitats in the Shoalhaven region. This world-first effort aims to protect threatened reptile species through habitat restoration and captive breeding.
