PoliticsFormer Officers Demand Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
Former bureaucrats including ex-Central Home Secretary GK Pillai, Delhi's former Lieutenant Governor Najib Jung, activist Yogendra Yadav, and others have demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They issued a four-page public impeachment notice citing six allegations related to the Election Commission's functioning and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists. The group claims these concerns reflect citizen and civil society worries, not just political opposition. They were barred from delivering the notice at the Election Commission office, with barricades reportedly placed in advance, which activists say violates law and constitution.
