BusinessForeign Investors Sell Despite India Becoming Cheaper
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth ₹3.16 trillion on Indian stock exchanges in the first nine months of 2026, while investing ₹55,524 crore in the primary market. This resulted in net equity outflows of ₹2.60 trillion through September. The trend shows FPIs are selective, with significant selling in September despite India’s lower valuations making it more investable, according to Vishad Turakhia of Equirus Securities.
