WorldFlydubai Co-Pilot Planned Cockpit Attack and Crash Attempt
The Flydubai FZ1073 flight to Tel Aviv involved an alleged cockpit attack by Omani co-pilot Hamam al-Hammami on Indian Captain Smit Machchhar. The co-pilot tried to crash the plane into Ben Gurion Airport but was overpowered after the captain opened the cockpit door. The plane made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Israeli officials revealed the co-pilot planned the attack before joining Flydubai. Israel also scrambled fighter jets and considered shoot-down protocols for the rogue aircraft.
