Floods Damage Crops of 71,796 Farmers and 2,405 km Roads in Andhra Pradesh

Heavy rains caused by a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal have led to flooding in Andhra Pradesh's Godavari Delta and Valley for the second time in six days. The Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Dowleswaram recorded over 9.7 lakh cusecs of floodwater. Initial estimates show damage to horticultural crops on 1,734 hectares and agricultural crops on 44,029 hectares, affecting 71,796 farmers across 1,229 villages in 190 mandals. Additionally, 2,405 km of roads were damaged across the state.
