First Microblazar Discovered in Milky Way with Near-Light-Speed Jets

Astronomers have identified the first microblazar in the Milky Way, powered by a black hole pulling material from a massive companion star. This system, named IRAS 18293−0941, located about 12,000 light-years away, emits plasma jets at speeds close to light. The discovery was confirmed using multiple radio telescopes, including the European VLBI Network and South Africa's MeerKAT, and published in Astronomy & Astrophysics.
