FBI Arrests California Realtor for Spying on Taiwan President’s Son

The FBI arrested Wanying “Heather” Zhang, a California realtor, at Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly surveilling Ting-Yu Lai, the US-based son of Taiwan’s President Ching-Te Lai. Zhang was charged with acting as an unregistered foreign agent. She was detained before boarding a flight to Shanghai. A criminal complaint states Zhang and an accomplice took photos of Lai’s family home in Seattle in September 2025.
