Europe is considering a €10 billion investment over the next decade to develop its own astronaut launch and return system. Proposed by ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher, the plan will be discussed by member states at a space summit in Rome on 15 December. Currently, Europe relies on US and other foreign systems for crewed missions to the ISS, costing about €5 billion over ten years. The investment aims to reduce this dependence and support future missions.
