Endangered Australian Honeyeaters Regain Lost Songs via Live Tutoring
Researchers at Taronga Zoo studied captive-bred regent honeyeaters and found that live tutoring in small groups helped them relearn traditional wild songs lost due to population decline. Over three breeding seasons, 42% of the male birds successfully mimicked the original wild songs, aiding conservation efforts for this critically endangered species.
