Before Bengaluru's modern transport, roads were mainly for bullock carts. One steep, uneven stretch near Hebbal Lake caused injuries and accidents. Businessman Enayatulla Mehkri, a freedom fighter and municipal commissioner, personally funded leveling this slope. The area is now Mehkri Circle, a major junction in north Bengaluru connecting key roads and routes to the airport and other cities. His family recalls his charitable, low-profile nature.
