eMudhra Certificate Authority Keys Hacked, 8 Certificates Blocked

Private keys for eight intermediate certificates of Indian certificate authority eMudhra were compromised. Browsers and OS makers including Chrome, Firefox, Apple, and Microsoft blocked these certificates. eMudhra revoked all eight certificates after the breach was reported on October 17, 2026. No forged certificates have been found so far, but many tools require manual updates for safety. The cause of the leak is under investigation.
