Emerging Markets See First Foreign Outflow Since June Amid Fed Hawkishness
Foreign investors withdrew $26.3 billion from emerging-market stocks and bonds in September, the first monthly outflow since June, according to the IIF. Fixed-income assets experienced $7 billion in outflows, their first net withdrawal since March. The selling was driven by a hawkish US Federal Reserve stance, which raised Treasury yields and the dollar, reducing emerging-market asset appeal.
