An 18-month-old elephant calf named Maya, suffering from a genetic bone disorder and abandoned by its herd in Kaprikkad, Kerala, was airlifted to Vantara, Jamnagar, Gujarat for specialized treatment. Maya was found weak, dehydrated, and with respiratory infection in April. After initial care and a shoulder injury from a fall in July, she was moved for advanced medical care under expert supervision.
