Election Commission Suspends Two EROs Over Pilibhit Voter List Irregularities

The Election Commission has ordered the immediate suspension of two Electoral Registration Officers, Mayank Goswami and Hemant Chaudhary, in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit Assembly constituency due to alleged electoral roll irregularities. Their chargesheets must be submitted for scrutiny, and they cannot be reinstated without EC approval. Section 198 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, was added to the FIR against them and a computer operator. Opposition parties accused large-scale voter list manipulation.
