Election Commission Orders Special Summary Revision in 17 States

The Election Commission of India has ordered a special summary revision (SSR) of electoral rolls in 17 states and Union territories from November 2 to December 28, 2026. This exercise aims to include Gen Z, first-time voters, and those removed in previous revisions. The final roll will be published on January 4, 2027. Political parties will receive machine-readable PDFs of draft and final rolls, addressing opposition demands. All five states with upcoming assembly elections are included.
