Election Commission Exempts SIR Software Details From RTI

The Election Commission of India has refused to disclose the name and version of the software used in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, citing exemptions under the RTI Act for commercial confidence and trade secrets. In response to an RTI filed by activist MA Mujeeb Ayyub, the ECI stated no new software was developed or procured for SIR, and electoral officers decide voter inclusion based on facts and records.

Moscow to Host 2030 World Weightlifting Championships

Moscow will host the 2030 World Weightlifting Championships, the first major Olympic sports event awarded to Russia since its 2022 invasion of Ukraine, the International Weightlifting Federation announced. Ahmedabad, India, will host the 2029 edition. The 2030 Moscow event will also serve as a qualifier for the 2032 Olympics. Man and Friends Arrested for IED Attack on Cousin in Bengaluru
