Eisenkot Vows to Form National Emergency Government in Israel

Gadi Eisenkot was designated by Israeli President Isaac Herzog to form the next government, replacing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Eisenkot called for a "national emergency government" and pledged to do everything to be worthy of the mandate. Herzog's decision followed consultations with political parties, with factions representing 67 Knesset members recommending Eisenkot. The formal handover is scheduled for November 8.
