ECI Suspends Six Officers, Takes Action Over UP MLC Poll Lapses

The Election Commission of India suspended six supervisory officers and initiated disciplinary proceedings against 21 others, including presiding officers and police personnel, for lapses during the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council election from the Agra Teachers’ Constituency. IAS officer Abhay was removed as observer for the Gorakhpur-Faizabad Teachers’ Constituency and replaced by IAS Prakash Bindu. Counting for 11 seats is scheduled for October 27, following polling on October 23.
