ECI Says CEC Removal Only Like Supreme Court Judge

The Election Commission of India (ECI) stated before the Supreme Court that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) can be removed only in the same manner as a Supreme Court judge. In a common affidavit, CEC Kumar and Election Commissioners Sandhu and Joshi said any attempt to restrain the CEC’s functioning violates the 2023 Act. They also clarified that Form 6 was not amended, and West Bengal CEO’s officers have filed appeals against certain inclusions.

ICE Removes Guyanese Immigrant Kanand Ojha Over 2015 Murder

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removed 45-year-old Kanand Ojha, wanted in Guyana for the 2015 murder of Nephi Noel in Georgetown. Ojha was arrested in Queens on September 8, 2025, after entering the US legally in July 2015 but losing his immigration status due to an outstanding warrant. He was deported on September 18, 2025. An alleged accomplice was sentenced to 20 years in 2017.
