ECI Faces Criticism Over Voter List Re-enrolment Transparency

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has been criticized for lack of transparency regarding the re-enrolment of lakhs of voters excluded during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The former Special Roll Observer for West Bengal claimed no prior knowledge of the Chief Electoral Officer's unilateral decision to challenge re-enrolment appeals upheld by Supreme Court-appointed judicial officers. The ECI reportedly received communication about these appeals only after the fact. RTI requests for observer reports remain unanswered.
