Around a dozen journalists covering protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar were detained by Delhi Police despite showing media credentials. Independent and mainstream media reporters, including from Hindustan Times and Indian Express, faced difficulties accessing protest areas. The Supreme Court directed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta to ensure journalists and lawyers can perform their duties without hindrance. Congress leader KC Venugopal condemned the detentions as attempts to suppress truth.
