Dorset Wildlife Trust and Natural England Create National Nature Reserve

In March 2024, Dorset Wildlife Trust and Natural England acquired 335 hectares of chalk downland and farmland at Lyscombe, about 10 miles northeast of Dorchester. The land, previously an organically managed farm, was purchased for nature conservation and environmental restoration. Funding came from Natural England’s National Nature Reserves programme, a nutrient mitigation credit scheme, and donations from Dorset Wildlife Trust supporters.
