Domestic Airfares Surge Up to 68% Ahead of Festive Season
Domestic airfares on major routes have risen sharply ahead of the festive and year-end travel season. Delhi-Hyderabad fares increased by 68% year-on-year, while Mumbai-Kolkata fares rose 51%. Airlines reduced domestic flight frequencies by 5% but maintained overall seat capacity. Higher aviation turbine fuel prices and limited departures are driving the fare increases.
