Dharwad district experienced a 48% rainfall deficit during the southwest monsoon season from June 1 to September 30, receiving only 267.8 mm against the normal 513.9 mm. September was the driest month with a 73% deficit. North-interior Karnataka's 13 districts faced an average 42% deficit, with Vijayanagara at 57% and Haveri at 52%, worsening drought conditions.
