Delhi's latest air pollution study by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) provides the first source breakdown in nearly three years but cannot identify a large share of pollution sources. The study relies on a 2021 emissions model needing an update expected by June next year. Secondary sources, formed by gas interactions, accounted for 29.3% to 42.2% of PM2.5, surpassing vehicle emissions. IITM's PM2.5 readings were significantly lower than official monitors, showing 55.3 µg/m³ on October 22 versus 117.1 µg/m³ from 37 stations.
