Delhi Plans 100 km Pipeline to End Water Shortages

Delhi faces frequent water shortages even in winters due to high demand. To solve this, a new 100 km pipeline is planned along the Munak canal from Munak (Haryana) to Haiderpur (Delhi) to supply raw water. IIT Roorkee is tasked with feasibility and design, offering two options: a gravity system costing ₹13,000 crore and a pressure-flow system with pumping stations costing ₹7,240 crore. The latter is preferred for being cheaper and more efficient.
