WorldDelhi mandates essentiality certificate for institutional land for private schools
Delhi government amended the Delhi School Education Rules, 1973, requiring societies and public trusts to obtain an essentiality certificate from the lieutenant governor before purchasing or allotting government or municipal land for private schools. The amendment, notified on September 30, 2026, updates Rule 44 to assess the need for new schools in the locality and allows the administrator to conduct inquiries before issuing the certificate.
