PoliticsPhoto: Hindustan TimesDelhi HC: Accepting child referral doesn't guarantee adoption if parents ineligible
The Delhi High Court ruled that prospective adoptive parents cannot claim a legal right to adopt a child solely because they accepted a referral and CARA processed their no-objection certificate application, if they are legally ineligible. The court dismissed a Singapore man's plea challenging CARA's rejection of his inter-country adoption of a baby girl in March 2026, stating no enforceable right arises from such referrals or application processing.
