Cyclone to Hit Andhra Coast on October 28, Evacuations Planned

A very severe cyclonic storm is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam by the forenoon of October 28, according to the India Meteorological Department. Winds of 115 to 125 kmph, gusting up to 140 kmph, are forecast. Light showers may occur on October 25 and 26, with heavier cyclone-induced rainfall starting October 27. Evacuations will take place in low-lying areas from Bapatla to Vizianagaram.
