Cyclone Arnab to hit Andhra coast on Oct 28; 89,000 evacuated

Cyclone Arnab is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts near Bapatla and Visakhapatnam by the forenoon of October 28. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for multiple districts, forecasting wind speeds of 115–125 kmph with gusts up to 140 kmph. Over 89,000 people have been evacuated to 101 relief camps by the Andhra Pradesh government.

Delhi HC refuses to stay probe into journalists accused of casteist remarks on ACP...

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday declined to stay the investigation into two journalists accused of making casteist remarks against ACP Vivek Bhagat. The journalists allegedly humiliated the officer and obstructed his duties during an October 3 protest. Justice Mini Pushkarna said the investigation cannot be stayed without reviewing the Delhi Police's status report. The court issued notice on the petition seeking quashing of the FIR against the journalists.

Cyclone Arnab: Odisha closes schools in six districts, reschedules OCS exam

Due to Cyclone Arnab, Odisha has ordered the closure of schools and Anganwadi centres in Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur districts starting October 27. In Khordha, schools will close from 1 PM on October 27 through October 28. Teachers must remain on premises with roster duties to manage cyclone impact. The OCS Mains exam has been rescheduled as a precaution.
