On October 27 evening, rough waves driven by Cyclone Arnab surged over the shoreline and onto the Ennore Expressway in north Chennai, disrupting traffic and sweeping away roadside stalls. The National Highways Authority of India closed the affected stretch. Police diverted traffic to alternate routes to prevent accidents. Cyclone Arnab crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast early on October 28.
