Cullinan Diamond Became 530-Carat Gem in British Royal Sceptre
The 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond was discovered by Frederick Wells in South Africa's Premier Mine in 1905. Its exceptional size led to its purchase by the Transvaal government for King Edward VII. Over eight months, it was cut into several gemstones, with the largest becoming the 530-carat gem in the British Sovereign's Sceptre after Edward VII's death.
