HealthCSIR-CCMB Develops India-Specific Tool to Predict Sickle Cell Severity
Researchers at CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) have created a new severity score tailored for Indian patients with Sickle Cell Anaemia (SCA). Analyzing medical records of 171 children from Nagpur, this tool better predicts disease severity compared to international systems, which often do not reflect the unique clinical patterns of Indian SCA patients. This advancement may improve treatment and management of the disease in India.
