PoliticsCounting Begins for Bengal Bypolls, BJP's First Test Since Power
Vote counting started at 8 am Friday for the Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly bypolls in West Bengal, marking BJP's first electoral test since taking power in May 2021. Counting is under tight security, with postal and EVM votes processed in separate halls over 15 rounds. Turnout was about 80%, and the Election Commission called polling largely peaceful despite opposition allegations of irregularities.
