Cotton Prices Rise ₹4,000 per Candy, Tamil Nadu Textile Mills Concerned
Cotton prices in Tamil Nadu have surged by ₹4,000 per candy within 10 days early in the 2026-27 marketing season, reaching ₹68,000 from ₹64,000. Over 1,500 textile mills in the state are worried about rising input costs. Factors include lower cotton arrivals, farmers withholding stock for better prices, and the planned reimposition of import duty from November 1, said Nishant Asher of the Indian Cotton Federation.
