Consumer Commission Fines 4 Companies Over AC's Excessive Power Use

A MarQ 1 Ton 3 Star Split Inverter AC sold with an annual power consumption claim of 684.9 units was found to consume about 4.2 times more electricity during inspection. Despite multiple complaints by buyer Himanshu Parashar, the company did not resolve the issue or replace the AC. The consumer commission fined Flipkart and three other companies for deficient service, ordering them to repair or replace the AC or refund Rs 19,990 with interest, plus Rs 10,000 compensation for mental and physical distress.
