Congress Criticizes Election Commission's New Chance for Excluded Voters
The Election Commission has decided to give another opportunity to voters left out of draft rolls in seven states during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Congress called this a "U-turn" and a belated admission of wrongful deletions. The EC directed chief electoral officers in Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, and Nagaland to include these voters. Congress demands suspension of SIR and resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
