BusinessCoimbatore MSMEs Demand Controls on Steel Price Surge
Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Coimbatore are struggling with rising costs of diesel, furnace oil, LPG, and raw materials like steel, pig iron, copper, and aluminium. The Joint Council of Associations of Coimbatore submitted a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi highlighting an ₹8,000-₹10,000 per tonne steel price increase from August to September 2026. They urged the government to form a Price Monitoring Committee to prevent hoarding and cartelization.
