PoliticsCJP and INDIA Alliance Protest Against Election Commission's SIR
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and the INDIA alliance have staged separate protests against the Election Commission's Special Summary Revision (SIR) process. On October 2, CJP protested in Mumbai demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. On October 6, INDIA alliance MPs marched from Parliament to the Election Commission office but were stopped by police. Over 250 protesters, including Rahul Gandhi, were detained after a 9-hour demonstration. Both groups oppose SIR, fearing it removes eligible voters from the rolls, but differ in methods and scale.
