PoliticsChrista Pike Survives Botched Execution in Tennessee
Christa Pike, sentenced to death for a 1995 murder, survived a failed execution in Tennessee after two lethal injections of pentobarbital. Despite being strapped to the gurney and receiving the drugs, Pike remained alive, breathing and complaining of arm pain. She would have been the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years but was instead taken away by ambulance.
