Christa Pike Awake and Speaking After Failed Execution Attempt
Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike, who survived a failed execution last week, is awake and speaking while receiving hospital treatment. Her attorneys said her prognosis remains unclear and she faces a long recovery. Despite severe arm injuries, she remains handcuffed and shackled to the hospital bed. Pike was scheduled for execution on September 30 for a 1995 murder conviction.
