China’s Zijinshan Mine Creates Roads from Waste for 100-Ton Trucks
Researchers at China’s Zijinshan Gold-Copper Mine developed a road material by mixing blasting slag, neutralised dreg, and a binder made from steel slag, waste cement, and lime slag. Test roads built with this mixture supported 100-ton trucks and after 28 days showed better deformation resistance than rock, soil, and plain blasting slag, while meeting groundwater safety limits for three toxic metals.
