HealthCentre Proposes Ban on Prescription Drug Ads by Retailers, Wholesalers
The Indian health ministry has proposed strict regulations to ban advertisements of prescription drugs by retailers, wholesalers, and distributors. This move aims to close a regulatory gap where only pharmaceutical manufacturers were restricted from advertising potent medicines under Schedule H, H1, and X. The draft rules were notified on September 28 after consultations with the Drugs Technical Advisory Board, extending marketing curbs to the entire supply chain.
