Centre Open to Amendments in Digital Personal Data Protection Law
The Centre is willing to amend the Digital Personal Data Protection law to address concerns raised by news publishers. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw clarified that the law does not restrict press freedom. This comes after the Supreme Court issued a notice on a petition by the Digital News Publishers Association, which argued the law's lack of exemptions for journalism could threaten investigative reporting and confidential sources.
