Centre Notifies 375 Rural Employment Works, Expands Scope by 41%

The Indian government has notified 375 permissible works under the new rural employment framework, the VB-G RAM G Rural Act 2025. This expands the list of works by 41% compared to the previous scheme. The Ministry of Rural Development emphasized infrastructure, water security, and disaster preparedness. Works are categorized into water security (128), main rural infrastructure (111), livelihood infrastructure (98), and disaster preparedness (38). Livelihood works now form 26% of total works, up from 1.1%. The Act took effect on July 1, replacing MGNREGA.
