Centre Extends Agniveers' Tenure by 2 Years, Offers Regular Army Entry

The Union Cabinet approved changes to the Agnipath scheme, extending the tenure of 75% of Agniveers by two years beyond the original four-year term. After this extension, all Agniveers will have a chance to join the Army, Air Force, or Navy as regular troops based on performance. The remaining 25% are selected as regular soldiers earlier. CDS Gen N S Raja Subramani clarified that those joining later will be junior to the first 25%.
